This is a stunning coin silver (silver made from melted coins) and gold wash grape motif ladle. This piece is circa 1870 and was made in the USA. This lovely ladle showcases the qualities of the Aesthetic movement.
The Aesthetic movement occurred in the late 19th Century that took North America and Europe by storm. The movement championed beauty and “art for art’s sake”. This movement emphasized beautiful and sensual designs over the practical.
