Purple Miniature Gallé Cameo Glass Vase, circa 1900
This is a lovely little cameo glass vase, made by Emile Gallé in France in the early 20th century. The base glass is milky frosted white and the flowers are the second layer of glass, in a beautiful violet color. The acid etched cameo depicts a subtle and romantic design of leaves and floral buds, and blooms in a deep, amethyst color. This sweet little piece is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs. It measures 4 inches tall and at its bulbous base it measure 2.5 inches. The mouth of the vase has a diameter of 1.5 inches. It is signed by Gallé, and dates to 1900. Gallé was a significant figure and artist during the Art Nouveau movement in France making his glass pieces highly sought after today.
