French Palissy style trompe-l’oeil shape oval dish, moulded and applied in high relief with pike fish, eel & fish, signed L. Brard and measurement 13 ½ x 10 inches (circa 1865)

Brard’s unique treatment constituted an important departure from the work of Avisseau and Landais who had sought strictly to recreate the style of Bernar Palissy.
