Unique Handpainted Golden Koi and Dragon Chinese Antler Pair

A gorgeous pair of stag horns, decorated with golden swirling clouds, koi fish and flying dragons. These deer antlers are mounted on a wooden circular base, and are raised elegantly with a slight natural curve. One measures an 1/16th on an inch more than the other, highlighting their natural beauty. They make a perfect pair, approximately 9 inches tall with an almost matching design, but the small differences pointing to the unique hand made aspects of each. The koi fish seem to jump out of the water and over ornate Chinese fences as if almost meeting the dragon in meet air, as he comes swooping down with his long tail that curls around the horn several times around. The palette is restrained and elegant. The gold, black and red colors are beautifully chosen and create a nice contrast against the cream colored horns. With these minimal colors a beautiful Chinese legend is depicted. The jumping koi fish illustrate the well known story of the Yellow River and waterfall in China. So determined were the fish to swim the Yellow River's mighty upstream, against all odds that they succeed, up until they reached waterfall. Some koi turned back but others continued to persevere and try to swim up the waterfall. Their efforts caught the attention of local demons, who laughed at them and heightened the power of the waterfall out of malice. After one hundred years of jumping, one koi finally reached the top of the waterfall. The gods recognized the koi for its efforts and determination and turned this fish into a golden dragon, representing fearlessness and strength. The red colors on the dragons depicted represent good fortune and fire. The black and gold are associated with royalty and the color of heaven or eternity. The really beautiful pair of stag horns are beautifully hand-painted with great attention to fine brush work. There is a slight crack that runs up and down the antlers, on both sides, but this is because of its age, and it does not affect the integrity of the craftsmanship. Koi fish in the home traditionally bring positive energy. They are truly elegant, perfect for decorative end pieces, or for a person who appreciates history and ancient craftsmanship.
