Pair of Roman Bronze Protome of a Lion

Pair of Roman Bronze Protomes of a Lion, ca. 2nd Century. Each with forequarters of a leaping lion. With bared teeth and protruding tongue. Thick, shaggy mane and feathering under forelegs. Iron tenon remaining in the socket. One Lion missing a left leg, otherwise in excellent condition. Lion's are 3" high x 4" long x 2" wide. On custom stands dimensions are 5 3/4" high x 4 1/2 long x 2 1/4" wide. Ex: Sotheby's New York and Private European collection.
