Monumental Bronze Age Syro-Hittite Pottery Idol, Astarte, Goddess, from the Time of Terach, Father of Abraham, ca. 2000 BCE. Found in the Holy Land, with bird-like features characteristic to the style of the region. Large round eyes, pointed nose, and flattened back. Figure with long, curly hair and large headdress protruding from back of head. Several necklaces adorning a slender neck, with hands covering breasts. Figure is 9" high, intact and in excellent condition. On custom lucite stand. Though little is written about these slender figures, they are widely recovered from ancient temples and homes. They are believed to be made in tribute to the cultures deities of that time (2750 - 1900 BCE)
