Colima Pottery Standing Musician, Protoclassic, Mexico, ca. 100 BCE - 250 CE. Stocky female deeply bent legs and playing drum with an antler. Face in trance like expression. Lips parted and eyes closed. Wearing a loincloth with flaps at back. Closely shorn coiffure with ears projecting at side. Painted overall in reddish brown, with spout at back of head. 12 1/2" high and in excellent condition. Ex: Sotheby's New York.
