Edwardian Alligator Skin Collar Box
An elegant Edwardian case for collars, scarves and other precious fabric accessories. This piece of fashion history dates to the turn of the century when gentlemen wore collars with their dress shirts. During this period and sporadically thereafter, ornamental collars were often worn as a form of jewelry amongst men and women. The alligator skin box measures 5-1/2 high x 7 wide x 6 inches deep and could be used for a variety of purposes today. Its a great box to store and transport fabric items or similar accessories. It's in great working order with a handle on top, also made of alligator skin and in mint condition. The skin has a nice red hue to it, and is shiny, having been very well maintained over the years. It is soft to the touch and adds an attractive look to the case. When opened, the interior is lined with a bright purple-red silk fabric, which has some wear for it, mostly expected due to its antique age. Although this particular item was made for a gentleman, it could be used by both sexes.
