Northern German Biedermeier Pine Armoire
The word that comes to mind when looking at this armoire is "quality."
Typical of the clean lines of North German cabinetry during the Biedermeier period, this massive, extremely well-made armoire of beautiful Northern European pine is from the Hamburg/Schleswig-Holstein region of Germany. The simple embellishments, rounded corners and moldings and the curved feet that raise the armoire up off the floor, set these regional armoires apart from the all other parts of Germany, Scandinavia and the Netherlands where the use of pine was most prevalent. The inside is outfitted with drawers and shelves. The drawers are on full extension glides and the original pin hinges on the doors were replaced with solid brass off set hinges that allow the doors to swing back parallel to the face of the armoire (pictured).
This armoire comes apart for easy moving to a second floor or navigating through a tight corridor. It can also be dissembled and crated for container moving or to ship as consolidated freight.
