German Grunderzeit Period PIne Armoire
From the Grunderzeit Period, this handsome armoire offers spacious storage for hanging or folded clothes and/or linens. The original dark, tooled and grained faux bois finish was stripped to celebrate the unpretentious nature of the native pine from which it was made. With carved wooden escutcheons on the top and bottom of upper and lower corners flanking the two paneled doors, it rests on bun feet and has a working lock, and key. Made to dismantle to facilitate shipping and delivery. Germany, circa 1880.
(1) antique lock but not original with a working antique key, interior bayonet locks on passive door are original, brass stamped key plates are original.
