Georgian Mahogany Inlaid Secretary Bookcase
A great George III period mahogany inlaid secretary bookcase made in Northern England during the last quarter of the 18th century. The arched pediment include three well carved finials. The arch is repeated in the elaborately fitted interior. The central door is flanked by hidden compartments and inlaid with satinwood oval medallion. Good quality Cuban mahogany and kingwood veneer is used on the upper and lower cases. The glass doors astragals are in a Gothic revival pattern. The brass hardware is old but is not original. The feet are nicely shaped ogee brackets. This beautiful piece looks fantastic, has very good color and nice patina. A classic!
