18th Century Country French Buffet à Deux Corps
18th century Louis XV country French buffet à deux corps from Normandy made of solid oak with waxed patina. Exceptional craftsmanship, especially in the hand carvings including a beautiful three dimensional flower basket beneath the crown. Doors have the original handblown glass panes and are decorated with flower bouquets carved in high relief at the top and symbols of spring planting on the left door and fall harvest on the right. Upper cabinet opens to two shaped shelves made from thick knotty planks, grooved at the back to display plates. The buffet has shaped doors with raised panels decorated with carved flower branches and swirling acanthus leaves and opens to a single shelf. One key and two locks in working order. Two small dovetailed drawers with some restoration and replaced knobs. Minor restoration on back legs. Dimensions of top: 19.5" D x 53" W x 56.5" H.
