Hepplewhite Bow Front Chest, American Mahogany c. 1820
Handsome, classic antique chest came out of a Main Line Philadelphia estate. Circa 1820 with original French feet, line inlay, four graduated drawers and a curved conforming top. The brasses are replaced, but old, and all locks are still here. It is in very good condition, with minor losses and expected wear that give it the texture of age. There is an age crack to the top, and an old repair but the surface is good looking and free of marks and stains. All the drawers are sound and work well.
A beautiful piece for a hall, a bedroom, even a living area to give a feel of warmth and age. The wood has a swirling grain and very simple, delicate line inlay. The top extends back so this can be pushed against a wall, regardless of baseboard. Clean lines.
