Mid-Century Modern Walnut Chest from John Stuart
Stunning 12-drawer dresser made of walnut. Simple but sculptural design, with an exterior frame holding the drawers. The original finish was damaged so we had it meticulously hand-finished by a Pennsylvania artisan who usually works on museum level antiques. This chest is American made in Danish style, evocative of Finn Juhl, from the 1960's.
The stain is dark walnut with a lot of color and movement. Beautifully made with the 12 drawer fronts cut from a continuous piece of wood so the grain flows from one to the next, a detail you seldom find in new pieces. The secondary wood (all interior drawer boxes) is oak, another detail rare in new furniture. The chest bears the John Stuart label. Solid brass hardware.
