Joseph Emmanuel Zwiener (1848-c.1900) A Rare and Important Rococo Commode

On hold

A very rare and important, French Rococo style marquetry commode with superb heavy bronze mountings by Joseph Emmanuel Zwiener, each bronze piece signed on the back with initials. The quality of the bronze casts and workmanship are nothing short of superb, but of course what else would one expect from an original Zwiener? Zwiener was one of the most important cabinet makers of the late 19th c. and the teacher of Francois Linke. Zwiener's bronze mounts were sculpted by Leon Message, and he created highly important pieces for Europe's royalty and other nobility of which this present commode is obviously one. The amount of bronze work on this Louis XV style commode makes it exceptionally rare and desirable.
