(France, 19th Century)

French 19th Century Transitional Louis XV/XVI Fruitwood Enfilade

A fine French fruitwood enfilade with elements of both Louis XV and Louis XVI style. This 19th century piece is outfitted with three drawers, each with original metal loop pulls, set above three lockable doors. The doors conceal two separated storage cavities that each contain a single fixed shelf. These are situated over the shaped apron. The doors are hung on barrel hinges and retain their original ornate escutcheons. The enfilade has canted corners with fluted carvings that terminate at the piece's escargot shaped feet. The enfilade is constructed of extremely well-aged solid fruitwood joined using peg and hole technique.
