French 19th Century Transitional Louis XV/XVI Oak Enfilade

Provincial charm pours from this fabulous French oak three door enfilade. Made in 1880, this transitional piece combines elements of both Louis XV and XVI styles. Three drawers, bedecked with fluted carvings and original pulls are set above three doors, each with shaped, carved panels and cut steel escutcheons. These lockable doors, hung on steel barrel hinges, open before a storage cavity outfitted with a single fixed shelf. Canted corners frame the facade of the enfilade and terminate in spectacularly carved escargot feet . Lines from these scrolled feet continue to create the edge of the shaped apron that has been embellished with a central carved cartouche from which flowering vines extend.
