Fine French Empire period linen press of monumental size, handcrafted of walnut with a book matched front by master artisans from the Lyon region of France during the first Empire of Napoleon. Two upper cabinet doors flanked by columns fitted with ormolu mounts above three full width drawers flanked by shorter columns. Raised by elongated supports. Designed to store all the family's fine linens, linen presses were highly desired. This stately piece, with its classic straight lines, is a fine example of the Empire period.
