Pablo Picasso (1881-1973); "Danseurs" (A.R. 388), c. 1956. A Madoura Pottery Wall Plaque

Pablo Picasso (France, 20th Century)

Pablo Picasso (1881-1973); "Danseurs" (A.R. 388), c. 1956. A Madoura Pottery Wall Plaque

A wonderful Pablo Picasso partially glazed ceramic wall plaque depicting two dancing figures, made by Madoura Pottery c. 1956 and from an edition of only 500. The plaque is concave and is stamped on the back 'Empreinte Originale de Picasso' and 'Madoura Plein Feu'. A lively and dynamic depiction amazingly rendered using only simple lines. The plaque is not perfectly round, but it does measure approximately 7 3/8" in diameter. For a similar example, please see the Christie's South Kensington sale titled 'Picasso Ceramics' (#5377) held on June 26, 2014, Lot 131.
