English 18th Century Enamel Bodkin Case with Pastoral Vignettes
Georgian Era, circa 1770, enamel bodkin case decorated with three pastoral vignettes within raised gold rococo scrolls on a pink ground with blue dots and white dot lattice. Bodkin cases were used for large sewing needles and sometimes as a billet-doux to deliver secret love letters.
