Antoine Ambrosio was born in Vallauris on 11 June 1887, he studied under Antonin Mercié (1845 –1916) a famous French sculptor and painter entered the École des Beaux-Arts of Paris. In 1913 Antoine Ambrosio gained the Grand Prix de Rome at the age of 26. Ambrosio is known under the name of Ambrosio-Donnet because he added to his patronym, the name of her mother Marie-Antoinette Donnet
On 14 December 1915 near Souain-Perthes-lès-Hurlus (a former battlefield with rough terrain and trenches) he died fighting ‘’Pour la France’’
