1920's German Set of Majolica Leaf Plates
This is a set of 7 plates in the leaf form, with curling edges, stems and plant veins, which create a beautiful ceramic plates. One of the plates is the larger of the set. All other six are the same size, approximately 6 by 7 inches. The larger plate is 10 by 9 inches in size. This set could be used as a salad or a desert set. On two plates, at two tips, the glaze has popped off the edge. Otherwise they are in perfect condition and have a wonderful glow to them. They have a brilliant looking glaze-pooling effect, where the leaf becomes saturated with a rich color in various areas. The leaves turn deep blue green in the center and have slight pink tips. The curling of the leaves make them have a wonderful presentation use. They are all marked on the back- the larger plate is marked with number 1731 and the smaller are marked 1730. They are made in Germany, circa 1920.
