English 19th Century Mother of Pearl Thread Winders and Needle Book
Three Mother-of-pearl items, two thread winders and a needle book. The winders are circa 1840 and were used to wind thread around for later use. These were used before the invention of wooden spools. The Mother-of-pearl needle book, circa 1870, has an engraved picture on the front of a basket of flowers. There are two internal flannel leaves to hold needles and a silk pink ribbon. All three pieces are very luminous and in excellent condition. Book 1 ¾” x 1 3/8” and winders 1 ½” in diameter
