Scottish Ram Horn Snuff Mull

An unique, antique snuff mull made from the horn of a ram in Scotland, with a sterling silver rim and lid. The snuff mull was traditionally carried by men in the Scottish countryside and was a highly valued decorative item. To create this snuff mull the horn of the ram was hollowed and heated, then shaped and curled into its dramatic form. A carefully centered and selected banded 1 inch agate cabochon decorates the sterling silver lid of the snuff mull. When opened, the agate lid becomes translucent and light shines through; the lid fits snuggly. The snuff mull is 3 inches long by 2 inches at its widest point. Its a wonderful conversation piece and can also still be used to carry tobacco.
