Pair Early Pearlware Chinoiserie Plates
A rare pair of 18th-Century English pearlware plates. Circa 1780, these plates are hand painted in dark cobalt blue, that appears almost black in some areas. They each have an anglicized Chinese chinoiserie pagoda house, fences, and foliage that face water and a rocky shoreline. At the lower portion of the plates is a distinctive 'eye'. The edges are painted like feathers. These plates are increasingly difficult to find and this pair is a rare treat! They are beautiful displayed in a cabinet or plate rack.
