Mid Century Sterling Silver Mexican Bowl by Juvento Lopes Reyes
A beautiful, simple, Mexican sterling silver dish made by Juvento Lopes Reyes in Mexico City, circa 1950. This silver dish has a perfectly circular form; it has a fantastic patina, smooth all around, with no damage to silver or scratches. The bowl measures 9-1/2 inches in diameter and is 3-1/2 inches tall. It is raised by a smaller support that measures approximately 1 inch. This is a generous and wide bowl. On the base you can see the the maker's marks JLR and its marks for Sterling Silver as well as "Made in Mexico" marks. Juventino Lopez Reyes is a well-known Mexican silversmith, highly sought after for his superb designs and quality workmanship among silver collectors. He worked at the renowned Maciel Silver Factory in Mexico until he opened his own workshop "Plateria del Recero" in 1935. This silver dish weighs 680 grams or approximately 21.86 troy ounces. This sterling silver bowl is not only a great silver piece but also a notable mid-century modern collector's item. Great for a table centerpiece, with a modern look and an elegant design.
