19th Century Antique British Leather Fire Bucket
Here is a wonderful dark blue 19th century antique British Leather Fire Bucket. It is made of crafted leather and wounds the entire piece on the outside and the inside. It is 16 1/2" tall, 8 3/4 " wide. This does NOT include the handle . On the outside of the bucket you will notice the Lion, coat of arms, and either a horse or a unicorn to the right. These are in the colors of Gold, silver, blues, and reds. There appears to be writing on the bottom of the crest, but I can't make it out. A fire bucket was used to carry water , to put out fires as needed. I don't know if this piece can still hold water or not. Also there has been a mend to the handle which is leather. The leather is attached to pieces of wood to hold it together. Please see pictures for normal wear. Most people now use these for decoration, such as an umbrella or walking stick holder.
