Early Pair Cast Brass Dog Mantle Garniture
A heavy pair of cast brass horses found in England, Circa early 20th-Century. The dogs appear to be St. Bernards with the ubiquitous spirits barrels around their necks. They have a lovely old surface and some small bits of vertigris. They are raised on plinths to set them off. They were used as fireplace mantle garniture (decorative accessories) in Victorian England. They are nicely detailed and heavy. They would be lovely to decorate a study bookshelf or could be used as doorstops. Dimensions are for each.
