French Emile Gallé Art Nouveau Marquetry Inlaid Tray

Beautiful French Art Nouveau tray composed of several exotic inlaid woods, including mahogany and oak and signed by the artist Emile Gallé. The tray depicts a delicate arrangement of thistle flowers in a landscape with the cross of Lorraine. This iconic non-religious symbol is typically found in eastern France to denote its region. Crafted with exquisite detail this piece is an excellent example of Art Nouveau decorative woodwork.
