English Mahogany Document Box, 18th Century
An English 18th Century mahogany document box with thumb carved edges, a brass escutcheon, and a brass bail handle on the lid. The interior is open but shows signs of two removed partitions, leading one to believe that it started life as a tea caddy and was repurposed for use as a deed or document box as was often the case. The box retains what appears to be it's original key.
