19th Century French Napoleon III Box, Signed Tahan Paris
Featured here is a 19th Century French box , designed and crafted by Tahan. A lovely mid- 19th century French, document box, or jewelry casket from the master cabinet maker, TAHAN of Paris. The lock of the box works, and has a nice key. A prestigious maker of fine furniture and small boxes and caskets. Tahan was official cabinet maker to Emperor NAPOLEON III (ebeniste de I"Empereur). His was exhibited at London's Great Exhibition in 1851 and the Parisian Exhibition. Please notice his name right above the lock, which was Tahan - Paris. The piece is black, with great inlay work. It also has a great monogram in the center on top of the box. There4 is a nice detailed handle on both side. There are also 4 round feet, one on each corner.
