18th Century Coat of Arms for the City of Bordeaux

The Fleur de Lys near the top of this tole plaque are the symbol of French royalty. Below them we see a lion representing the time in the 12th century when Bordeaux was under British rule. Next are a pair of towers and a gate dating from the Medieval period which still exist today as a main entrance to the old part of the city. This coat of arms is still used today on many government buildings.
