18th-Century Dutch Delft Plates with Figures Long Eliza, Pair
A superb pair of 18th-Century / early 19th-Century Dutch Delft plates with Chinese figures. The figure is 'Lange Lijs' or Long Eliza decoration and is based on Chinese porcelain examples. They are hand molded and painted with a chinoiserie design with a figure, gate, tree and surrounded with a floral and foliate motif. Tin glazed faience, these are fine quality plates and they have an orange border. The maker's mark verso is De Porceleyne Bijl, active from 1657 - 1803.
