"Stop", Carol Bennett, Original Linocut on Paper, Kaua'i, 2004
"Stop", Carol Bennett, Original Linocut on Paper, Kaua'i, 2004, signed in graphite lower edge, edition 1/1. This powerful image is executed using the linocut process, a variant of the original woodcut using a twentieth century material, linoleum. The image seen was cut into the solid sheet of lino and then hand inked before being impressed upon the rag paper. As this image contains two colors, black and red, it was necessary to print the image twice in order to lay the red color atop the black image. The kinetic quality of the image is accentuated by the artistic choice of the medium, linocut, as the saturation of the ink into the paper gives a sense of depth. The work has been professionally hand mounted to museum standards. Carol Bennett's CV is available upon request.
