Pair Antique French Wall Brackets Corbels circa 1850
The original finish on this pair of antique French wall brackets or corbels circa 1850 has a marvelous texture. The aged plastering has been worn down to the carved timber and showcases the deeply chiseled motifs. These brackets or as some call them corbels were originally used as decorative supports for ceiling beams and set horizontally. These brackets were salvaged from an old building in the south of France as it was being demolished. The beauty of these architectural salvage pieces lies in their ability to be fitted for a variety of application from objects displayed on their own, as wall bracket supports to display objects or even as artifacts transformed into lamps. The scale of these antique French brackets corbels is quite impressive and makes a terrific visual impact when seen in person.
