Vintage Andersen Green Enamel and Sterling Silver Leaf Earrings
These are a lovely pair of vintage David Andersen sterling silver and enamel clip earrings from the 1950s. Andersen was known for their quality craftsmanship and beautiful Art Nouveau, Modernism and naturalist designs. Andersen is a fourth generation silversmith from Oslo, Norway. These beautifully sculpted leaf earrings are a fine example of the designs Andersen became so popular for. The sinuous line work, the leaf veins and the faded gold wash against the soft translucent green enamel make quite a beautiful pair of earrings. The earrings are sterling silver but once had a gold wash; today the wash is faded but still adds a nice touch. The earrings are clip on but can be modified for pierced ears.
They are in great condition with no cracks on the enamel; they make a wonderful vintage piece of jewelry. On the back they are marked with the David Andersen scales logo, Norway Sterling and a W in a circle, hallmark of Willy Winnaess, designer for DA during the 1950s.The earrings are a nice size, and measure approximately 1 inch by 1/2 an inch.
