This charming agate stone ring is a real Edwardian era treasure. When brought to the light you can see the many layers of color on the moss agate stone; the colors of the gemstone appear to be swirling. There are a variety of blues, pinks, greens and yellows, against what seems to be a clear or translucent background. Moss agate is not banded, but is from the quartz family, and as a gemstone has many stabilizing and strengthening properties. The stone is set onto a 14 karat yellow gold band and a solid back which adds vibrancy to it. The band of the ring as well as the rectangular setting are decorated with elegant architectural ornate line work, classic Edwardian era patterns; the carriage of the ring is highly ornate and as beautiful as the stone it embellishes. The ring is a size 4-1/2 but could be re-sized. The rectangular stone measures 3/4 x 1/2 an inch. It has a soft polished feel to the top of it. It is a lovely piece of antique jewelry with al of its handmade qualities. Circa 1901.
