Antonio Pineda Mexican Silver Ring
A stunning and masculine Mexican Silver ring from the designer Antonio Pineda. The ring has a really original look, a minimalist style and Mid-century look. The makers mark on the interior of the ring is from post 1953, which dates it to the 50's. Other hallmarks include the crown, the eagle, Sterling Mexican Silver marks and 925. Pineda was one of the most important silversmiths of Taxco, Mexico. His signature style was formed in the 50's; he began training in the early 1940s, and at the time was already making quite innovative designs . He became the preeminent producer of Mexican Modernism in the decorative arts. In the 50's he won the Presidential Prize during the Taxco silver fairs twice, in 1953 and 1959. In the 80's he helped found the Taxco Museum of silver. He became very important in Taxco, and his name and design were synonymous with Mexican Silver. This ring is a size 10, and it is quite solid. It weighs 13 grams. It has a nice finish, and feels great when worn. Its angled ridges and concave valleys act as prisms in reflecting light. The ring is elegant as well as beautiful. It has a jagged texture and is smooth on the interior. The ring is an outstanding example of Pineda's innovative design and quality work.
