Laurier Bay Leaf Sepia Patina René Lalique Glass Vase
This is a gorgeous Laurier bay leaf pattern sepia patina René Lalique glass vase in perfect condition. The opalescent glass has a beautiful look, with a high relief pattern of leaves and berries set against a brown/red sepia background. The vase has a mix of clear and frosted glass, which adds depth to the design featured on the piece. The highest relief forms, such as the berries, have been polished to get a clear glass look, adding also a highlight to the design. This vase is quite rare, especially for the sepia patina which is hard to find among Lalique art glass. The vase is 7 inches tall, and ends with a soft rounded rim, and measures 4 inches in diameter. It rests flat on a surface, and is quite a nice solid piece of glass. The R. Lalique signature in raised cast letters is found on the vase near the bottom, subtle yet still visible. At the height of his career in 1925, Lalique exhibited his works at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Moderns in Paris and with these he came to define the Art Deco style. This piece, which dates to 1922 is a fine example of Art Deco design and it is a quintessentially Lalique piece. RLalique design No. 947.
