Green Leaf Cameo Glass, Webb Vase

A lovely 2 layer, green, frosted and clear cameo glass, possibly a Thomas Webb vase. It measures 8 1/4 inches high, 4 inches at its widest point, then at the top 2 1/4 inches. The vase takes a bulbous form, decorated with light green leaves that alternate between being frosted and translucent. The other layer of this cameo glass is a clear colored glass, which is also both frosted and clear, creating the negative space in the organic patterning. The many textures of this vase and the high quality design and craft make it most likely a Thomas Webb Cameo piece. Thomas Webb & Sons was an English glass company, from the United Kingdom, founded in 1837. Webb was known for his Nature designs and skilled cameo glass, a process in which there are several layers of glass and each is etched and cut back to create dimensionality. The vase is heavy solid glass, notably from all the various layers used to create the final piece. This vase is in great condition, bottom remains unsigned. A beautiful glass piece, a great addition to a collection.
