This miniature Loetz vase features the Formosa pattern with irregular layers of blue, and vibrant green, or "crete". Crete is the outstanding underlying color used by Loetz for his Formosa designs. The textured raised decor pattern was created by the handmade process of laying glass on top of glass, and pinching and pulling while it was still hot. The organic forms of this design are typically Bohemian, and of the Art Nouveau period. The iridescent miniature vase measures 4 1/2 inches tall and the mouth opens at 2 1/4 inches. The base of the vase has a polished pontil. It is in great condition and a wonderful addition to a fine art glass or Loetz collection. Circa 1902.
