French Antique Marguerite Goblet by R. Lalique
An elegant glass from the famous Rene Lalique of France. This glass dates to 1920, and has elements of both Art Deco and Art Nouveau; it is both geometric in its design and reveals organic patterning. The flowers found inside of the angular triangles are marguerites. René Lalique (1860-1945) was best known for creating luxury glassware items that helped define the aesthetics of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements in Europe. The pinnacle of Lalique’s career as a master glass craftsman is considered to be the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Moderns in Paris, which defined the Art Deco style. This glass appears in Lalique's Catalog Raisonee by Marcilhac on page 768, No. 3404. Signed at the bottom: R LALIQUE, France N: 3404. The glass measures 4.5 inches tall by 3 inches wide. A great addition to an art glass collection, or for a Lalique enthusiast.
