Gallé "Tea Ceremony" Miniature Cameo Glass Vase with Ferns
This is a lovely little cameo glass vase, made by Gallé in France in the early 20th century. This type of "tea ceremony" miniature vase was influenced by, and originally intended for, the Japanese market. The three-fern design is beautifully rendered in olive green cameo over a base of lighter yellow/green with touches of amber. The cameo glass layers are etched twice to form the design and the outer layer is polished to stand out against the matte background. This vase is in excellent condition with no chips or repairs.
It measures 3" x 2 1/2" and 1 5/8" across the top rim. It is signed "gallé" in cameo.
