An elegant Gallé banjo shaped perfume atomizer with a double overlay of cameo glass of burnt siena and yellow. It has a beautiful art nouveau design of leaves and berries hanging from a branch in autumn colors that wrap around the skinny neck of the bottle. The cameo organic patterns are created by the removal of layers of glass through an etching process that originates in the glass workshops of the Ancient Romans. Emile Gallé is the most notable artist to have been responsible for its revival during the Art Nouveau period. The atomizer dates to 1900 and is signed by the artist. It is 9 inches tall and 3 inches wide at the bulbous base. Because this piece still has all its original parts, the rubber has hardened to the Gallé atomizer. Otherwise, the piece is in excellent condition for its age. Its a wonderful addition to a glass collection and also quite a rare and functional piece of art glass.
