Poshinger Art Nouveau Enameled Glass Vase with Dragonfly and Floral Decoration

Stunning Art Nouveau iridescent Bohemian art glass vase, made by Poshinger, bares an hourglass shape and undulating flared rim with base glass is frosted clear color and enameled on top with gorgeously detailed pattern depicting two dragonflies, huge-petaled flowers, and leaves. The colors used are rich and vibrant reds, golds, blues, pinks, and greens. Both the glass and enamel have beautiful iridescent highlights. The lovely pattern is a classic example of Art Nouveau styling. This vase is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or repairs. It has a polished pontil on the bottom of the base. Etched on the bottom of the vase are the words "F.U. Poshinger," "E. Staffin," and the number "96." The crowned "P" Poshinger mark is there as well.

Commentary

"The Poshinger family boasts a 450 year history of owning glass works, beginning in the Bavarian Forests in 1568. The glass works in Frauenau and the further lands belonging to this estate were purchased in 1605. Frauenau is the oldest glass works in Germany with the longest family tradition in the world. The Art nouveau vases from Frauenau were awarded the gold medal at the World Exposition in Paris in 1900. Today, Poshinger still enjoys an excellent reputation worldwide for Art nouveau glassware.
