Early Modernist Czechoslovakian Silver Lidded Bonbonnier
This is an Early Modernist Czechoslovakian Silver Lidded Bonbonnier by Franz Bibus. The design is excellent; as a series of divided forms bulge from their divisions giving it a very modern look and making for beautiful reflections in the silver. The lid fits perfectly and has a spot where it matches up to the bottom to latch on so it won't fall off. The top finial is carved out of bone and matches the shape of the piece. The piece is in excellent condition having a few very minor dents that are hard to see as the shape of the pieces masks them. The Company was founded in 1860 by Franz Josef Bibus in Moravvska Trebove. It grew to a large company and by 1917 had over 100 employees making a wide range of silver articles. This piece has a hallmark that dates it to 1922-1929 with a silver content of 800. It is 5 1/2" in diameter and 5 1/2" tall and weights 9.5 troy oz.
