Pair of Art Deco Period Gilded Iron Candlesticks, France circa 1930
A striking pair of Art Deco period gilded iron candelabras from France c. 1930. The combination of scrollwork and straight lines create an intriguing profile for these pieces. Each candelabra has two candle cups that are supported by curved pieces of iron set in an arc. Placed inside these arcs are pieces of iron scrollwork and at the top point are hand made leaves beneath each of the candle cups. The square central pillar stands on four feet that each terminate in a scroll while above each foot is an upward curving scroll. Interestingly there is an open loop at the top of each pillar to facilitate moving the gilded candelabra from place to place.
