Italian Antique Renaissance Hand Carved and Polychromed Wood Figural Mirror
A very impressive Italian Renaissance hand carved, polychromed and partially gilt mirror in tabernacle form with nude figures flanking each side and swags of fruit draped along the top and bottom, made probably in Venice c. 1650. Every inch of the mirror is heavily hand-carved in great detail by a master carver, as of yet unattributed.
The mirror was acquired in the early 1940's from Gimbel Bros. in New York as part of the William Randolph Hearst collection.
