French Antique Louis Philippe Style Gold Leaf Mirror

Handsome Louis Philippe style gold leaf frame enclosing the original mirror glass from Auxerres, France. The outstanding feature of this frame is the geometric pattern seen on all four sides. The large band is created from alternating the stripes with highly polished gold leaf and matte finished gold leaf. This alternation enables a rippled visual effect as light plays across the surface because the surface is slightly rounded in a convex fashion. The artisan felt no need for additional embellishment because of the fine work required to produce this pattern. Please enlarge the additional photographs provided and use the zoom feature offered on our website to see a close up view of the skill of the original frame maker. This particular frame is quite striking and as the original mirror plate glass remains enclosed gives an opportunity to place this in either a contemporary or traditional interior where its placement will provide a superb focal point.
