Patty was born in Hartford, Connecticut on March 13, 1884. By age 16 Patty was earning his living as a painter. After studying at the National Academy of Design and in Paris at Académie Julian, he worked in Brooklyn, New York for many years. While a resident there, he painted murals in Trinidad, Phoenix, Miami and St Petersburg, Florida. He moved to Laguna Beach, California in 1936 and remained until his death on Nov. 8, 1960.
